The two arrested were only carrying antique black powder revolvers. The crowd turns on the police in a non-violent, but verbal dress-down of epic proportions.
Under Texas law, a gun manufactured before 1899 is not even considered a “firearm,” therefore not subject to open carry laws:
(3) “Firearm” means any device designed, made, or adapted to expel a projectile through a barrel by using the energy generated by an explosion or burning substance or any device readily convertible to that use. Firearm does not include a firearm that may have, as an integral part, a folding knife blade or other characteristics of weapons made illegal by this chapter and that is:
(A) an antique or curio firearm manufactured before 1899; or
(B) a replica of an antique or curio firearm manufactured before 1899, but only if the replica does not use rim fire or center fire ammunition. (Source – from another illegal arrest)
How can Israel be expected to make peace with these people?
(JNS) — Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas held a celebration in Ramallah in honor of the second set of 26 Palestinian terrorists released by Israel as part of Israeli-Palestinian conflict negotiations, calling the prisoners “heroes” despite their violent history.
Medicare paid $23 million for dead patients in 2011 and $29 million for drug benefits for illegal immigrants from 2009 to 2011, according to a report Thursday from the Health and Human Services inspector general.
The investigators said Medicare has safeguards to try to stop payments to dead patients, but it still ended up sending out the $23 million anyway.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) — the same agency that is struggling to fix the broken Obamacare website — acknowledged the problems and said it will try to take steps to fix them.
“We agree that in cases where the information indicates an individual is not lawfully present in the United States, that individual should not be permitted to enroll or to remain enrolled in a Part D plan during the period where he or she is not eligible to receive federal benefits,” Marilyn Tavenner, administrator of CMS, said in response to the report about illegal immigrants getting benefits.
……this is a “NO BRAINER” if I ever seen one, Of course, because those are 100 percent DIMocrat VOTERS. Three groups put Obummer in the White House, BLACKS, UNIONS and LEGAL & ILLEGAL HISPANICS!………….Papa Mike
U.S. authorities deported fewer immigrants in fiscal year 2013 than at any time since President Obama took office, according to secret numbers obtained by the Center for Immigration Studies which suggest Mr. Obama’s non-deportation policies have hindered removals of illegal immigrants.
Just 364,700 immigrants were removed in fiscal year 2013, according to internal numbers from U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement that CIS released Wednesday — down 11 percent from the nearly 410,000 who were deported in 2012.
The administration has testified to Congress that it has enough money to deport 400,000 every year, but Jessica Vaughan, director of policy studies at CIS, said Mr. Obama and the Homeland Security Department have placed so many illegal immigrants off-limits for deportations that they cannot find enough people to fulfill that quota.
Mitt Romney had an unmistakable message for President Obama on Wednesday: Don’t drag me into this.
The president was in Boston, giving a speech at historic Faneuil Hall and drew on comparisons between the Massachusetts law and the problem-plagued Affordable Care Act.
During his speech, Obama acknowledged the problems with ObamaCare and apologized for his clunky rollout.
“There’s no denying it, right now the website is too slow, too many people have gotten stuck and I’m not happy about it,” Obama said.
Obama, in accounting for the troubled launch of ObamaCare, cited the Massachusetts health care law’s slow start in an effort to keep expectations low. Romney, as governor, signed that law in 2006.
But Romney, who as the GOP’s 2012 presidential nominee ran in part on repealing ObamaCare, emerged from his post-election private life to counter the White House message.
“In the years since the Massachusetts health care law went into effect nothing has changed my view that a plan crafted to fit the unique circumstances of a single state should not be grafted onto the entire country,” he tweeted. “Beyond that, had President Obama actually learned the lessons of Massachusetts health care, millions of Americans would not lose the insurance they were promised they could keep, millions more would not see their premiums skyrocket, and the installation of the program would not have been a frustrating embarrassment.
“Health reform is best crafted by states with bipartisan support and input from its employers, as we did, without raising taxes, and by carefully phasing it in to avoid the type of disruptions we are seeing nationally.”
Rep. Frank Pallone (D-NJ) was on The Kelly File with Megyn Kelly tonight to spin for the administration. Pallone tried to convince Megyn that it was not due to Obamacare that millions of Americans were losing their health care plans.
Pallone called it — “capitalism.” Unbelievable.
Rep. Frank Pallone: The bottom line is if you’re selling a lousy policy with a price that’s too high nobody’s going to buy it. So they’re cancelling these policies because they know people won’t buy them.
Megyn Kelly: But they were buying them. They were buying them. 15 million people who bought them and said “I like them”, Mr. Pallone.
Pallone: They’re not going to buy them anymore when they have a better alternative.
Kelly: Thanks to you!… Why do you get to decide what’s lousy?
Relying heavily on his TelePrompters, Barack Obama had the gall to tell Americans today that they can keep their health care plans. This is despite the fact that at least 2 million Americans have already lost their plans due to Obamacare.
Watch how he spins this.
It will make you sick.
From his speech today in Massachusetts:
“Now if you had one of these substandard plans before the Affordable Care Act came along and you really like that plan, you are able to keep it.”
Congresswoman Renee Ellmers questioned HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius during this morning’s hearing of the Energy and Commerce Committee on the failed Obamacare exchange roll-out and massive website problems.
Ellmers was brilliant – Blasting Sebelius for the government forcing men to carry maternity benefits.
“Correct me if I’m wrong, do men not have to cover maternity coverage?… We’re forcing them to buy things that they will never need. To the best of your knowledge has a man ever delivered a baby?“
The administration is defending this pledge with a rather slim reed — that there is nothing in the law that makes insurance companies force people out of plans they were enrolled in before the law passed. That explanation conveniently ignores the regulations written by the administration to implement the law. Moreover, it also ignores the fact that the purpose of the law was to bolster coverage and mandate a robust set of benefits, whether someone wanted to pay for it or not.
The president’s statements were sweeping and unequivocal — and made both before and after the bill became law. The White House now cites technicalities to avoid admitting that he went too far in his repeated pledge, which, after all, is one of the most famous statements of his presidency.
The president’s promise apparently came with a very large caveat: “If you like your health care plan, you’ll be able to keep your health care plan — if we deem it to be adequate.”
We heard it a hundred times before Obamacare was rammed through Congress.
Barack Obama promised Americans that if you like your healthcare plan you can keep your plan.
It was all a lie. Period.
The Obama administration knew years ago that millions of Americans would lose their health insurance.
And today… Top Democrat Steny Hoyer (D-MD) admitted today that Democrats knew Americans would lose their health care plans under Obamacare. National Review reported:
House Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer conceded to reporters today that Democrats knew people would not be able to keep their current health care plans under Obamacare and expressed qualified contrition for President Obama’s repeated vows to the contrary.
“We knew that there would be some policies that would not qualify and therefore people would be required to get more extensive coverage,” Hoyer said in response to a question from National Review.
Asked by another reporter how repeated statements by Obama to the contrary weren’t “misleading,” Hoyer said “I don’t think the message was wrong. I think the message was accurate. It was not precise enough…[it] should have been caveated with – ‘assuming you have a policy that in fact does do what the bill is designed to do.’”
New York doctors are treating ObamaCare like the plague, a new survey reveals.
A poll conducted by the New York State Medical Society finds that 44 percent of MDs said they are not participating in the nation’s new health-care plan.
Another 33 percent say they’re still not sure whether to become ObamaCare providers.
Only 23 percent of the 409 physicians queried said they’re taking patients who signed up through health exchanges.
“This is so poorly designed that a lot of doctors are afraid to participate,” said Dr. Sam Unterricht, president of the 29,000-member organization. “There’s a lot of resistance. Doctors don’t know what they’re going to get paid.”
