Obama Sets Espionage Act Record, and Jon Stewart Just Called Him Out in a Big Way

In a bit called Blazing Tattles, The Daily Show’s Jon Stewart spent 7 minutes Thursday night lampooning the ways some people who blow the whistle on multi-billion dollar rip-offs are treated to huge payouts, such as in the JP Morgan Chase and Countrywide cases.

As Stewart noted:

In American finance, snitches don’t get stitches. Snitches get riches, bitches.
But then, as Talking Points Memo writes, he turned more serious and called attention to the government snitches who, instead of being treated like heroes for calling out government waste, are instead being charged with spying:

Of the eleven times in our entire history that the Espionage Act has been used against government workers sharing information with journalists, seven of them have been under this presidency.
President Obama has prosecuted government workers for talking to journalists more than all other presidents combined, according to CNN.

While the most notorious cases are Ed Snowden and Bradley Mannning, Pro Publica reported in 2013 President Obama has gone beyond other presidents in going after reporters, such as in the AP wiretap case and spying on James Rosen of Fox News.

Hawaii Dimocrat Faces Backlash For Taking On Obama Over ‘Islamist’ Extremism

She was Hawaii’s golden girl after winning a seat in Congress with support from top liberal groups, but now that Democratic Rep. Tulsi Gabbard has been critical of President Obama, her political reputation in the bluest of blue states is taking a hit.

That isn’t stopping the twice-deployed 33-year-old Army veteran from continuing to challenge the president, her home state’s favorite son, over his refusal to identify terror groups like the Islamic State as driven by “radical Islam.”

“Every soldier knows this simple fact: If you don’t know your enemy, you will not be able to defeat him,” Gabbard told FoxNews.com. “Our leaders must clearly identify the enemy as Islamist extremists, understand the ideology that is motivating them and attracting new recruits, and focus on defeating that enemy both militarily and ideologically.”

Gabbard has been hitting this message for weeks now, putting her at odds with many in her party who toe the line that the Islamic State should not be associated with Islam.

“Every soldier knows this simple fact: If you don’t know your enemy, you will not be able to defeat him.”
– Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, D-Hawaii
Gabbard called “mind-boggling” Obama’s refusal to associate ISIS with the Muslim religion, even though the terrorist army is emphatic it is enforcing a strict interpretation of Islam.

“[Obama] is completely missing the point of this radical Islamic ideology that’s fueling these people,” she said

The Army veteran has encountered rough political surf since challenging President Obama.
Her comments have stunned political experts in her home state.

“It is very, very unusual for a junior member in the president’s own party to criticize him,” said Colin Moore, assistant professor at the University of Hawaii Department of Political Science. “Especially for someone considered a rising star in the party. This is a serious gamble for her.”

Michael W. Perry, of Hawaii’s most popular KSSK Radio’s “Perry & Price Show,” said that “while Gabbard is correct in her ’emperor has no clothes’ moment, she may have lost her future seat on Hawaii’s political bench.” He said she’s committed “a mortal sin” by challenging Obama, and “now the knives are out.”

For now, she’s taking her hits in the media.

The editorial board of the online political news journal Civil Beat, owned by eBay Founder Pierre Omiydar, said “the bright-red Right” is promoting her criticism but she is not “presenting serious policy arguments.”

“One wonders where Gabbard is going with this. Sure, the Iraq war veteran and rising political star is achieving national prominence in a high-profile discussion. But at what cost?” the editorial board wrote, saying her comments could be dismissed “as pandering from a young pol with lofty ambitions.”

Bob Jones, columnist for the Oahu-based Midweek, wrote a scathing piece suggesting Gabbard should be challenged in 2016. “I take serious issue when somebody who’s done a little non-fighting time in Iraq, and is not a Middle East or Islamic scholar, claims to know better than our President and Secretary of State how to fathom the motivations of terrorists, or how to refer to them beyond the term that best describes them — terrorists,” Jones said.

Gabbard acknowledges the political risks. “I’m not naïve,” Gabbard said. “It could hurt me politically, but I don’t worry about it because that’s not what I care about. … Our national security and the future of our country is infinitely more important than partisan politics or my personal political future.”

IRS Commissioner John Koskinen refused to apologize after he admitted the agency had lost all of Lois Lerner’s emails and had trashed her hard drive.

But they weren’t lost…
The IRS’s inspector general has launched a criminal investigation after 32,744 lost emails were recovered by congressional investigators.
The Washington Times reported:

The IRS’s inspector general confirmed Thursday it is conducting a criminal investigation into how Lois G. Lerner’s emails disappeared, saying it took only two weeks for investigators to find hundreds of tapes the agency’s chief had told Congress were irretrievably destroyed.

Investigators have already scoured 744 backup tapes and gleaned 32,774 unique emails, but just two weeks ago they found an additional 424 tapes that could contain even more Lerner emails, Deputy Inspector General Timothy P. Camus told the House Oversight Committee in a rare late-night hearing meant to look into the status of the investigation.

“There is potential criminal activity,” Mr. Camus said.

He said they have also discovered the hard drives from the IRS’s email servers, but said because the drives are out of synch it’s not clear whether they will be able to recover anything from them.

“To date we have found 32,744 unique emails that were backed up from Lois Lerner’s email box. We are in the process of comparing these emails to what the IRS has already produced to Congress to determine if we did in fact recover any new emails,” Mr. Camus said.

He’s One To Be Talking About Playing By The Rules!

President Obama warned workers at the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement: implement executive amnesty, or else. He made the comments in a town hall event on immigration on MSNBC.

According to the White House pool report, President Obama was asked for reassurance that people wouldn’t be deported as the legal battle over the executive amnesty plays out in the courts.

“Until we pass a law through Congress, the executive actions we’ve taken are not going to be permanent; they are temporary. There are going to be some jurisdictions and there may be individual ICE official or Border Control agent not paying attention to our new directives. But they’re going to be answerable to the head of Homeland Security because he’s been very clear about what our priorities will be,” Obama said, according to a partial transcript provided by the pool reporter.

Obama: We”ll Protect Illegal Aliens From Being Deported….VIDEO

If Hussein Obama had his way he would just open our Southern borders to everyone then no one would ever be DEPORTED!….PapaMikeT

So the federal court just granted an injunction preventing Obama from ignoring the law and going ahead with amnesty, but he personally is guaranteeing that his regime will skirt the law in place, as well as flouting the judge’s recent ruling….

Via NY Post:

President Obama was grilled Wednesday by anxious immigrants concerned about the fate of their undocumented relatives after a court ruling and a clash with Congress have left them in the lurch.

Fielding questions at a town hall meeting in Miami, Obama reassured a young veteran wounded in Afghanistan who was worried that his mom would get deported.

“I’m confident that your mother qualified under the executive action I have put forward [not to be deported],” Obama told the vet, Eric Naravayas.

“There has to be some kinda gray area for a situation like this ‘cause I — I put in a lot of time and I love this country,” Naravayas said.

Immigration activist Erica Andiola, whose mom could be deported, asked, “What’s going to happen to my family? Given the fact that immigration reform, it’s not going to happen anytime soon and we know that because of the politics in Congress. What’s gonna happen in the meantime when my mom — and my family if immigration enforcement comes to my house once again?”

Obama said, “We’re still going to make sure your mom is not prioritized for enforcement. She should feel confident about that. I want her to feel confident about that short-term. Long-term, we need to get a path to citizenship.”

Obama issued executive actions to stop deportations of an estimated 4 million illegal immigrants after failing to get a bill through the GOP House.

Daughter of Choking Victim Eric Garner Says How She Really Feels About Al Sharpton on Hidden Camera

Amid the chaos of the two, 2014 headline-grabbing stories about the deaths of black men at the hands of a police officer, one man was ever-present.

It seemed that wherever the controversy was, so was Al Sharpton.

The people Sharpton and his National Action Network (NAN) claim to be helping have some pretty specific opinions about the ordained minister, a secretly-filmed video suggests.

James O’Keefe and his staff at Project Veritas posed as activists and approached family members of Eric Garner and Trayvon Martin, community religious leaders, and people involved with the Martin foundation, just to see what they really thought about Sharpton, the New York Post reports.

When a reporter spoke with Erica Snipes, the oldest daughter of Eric Garner, she didn’t have many good things to say:

“He’s about this,” Snipes replies, rubbing her fingers together.

“He’s about money with you?” the undercover asks.

“Yeah,” Snipes responds.
When Snipes was passing out information in the street about her father’s case, a NAN director “attacked” her for not putting the network’s logo on the fliers, she said.

“She started attacking me. ‘Oh, I see that you got this flier out, how come you didn’t add the logo?’ ’’ Snipes said. …

“Al Sharpton paid for the funeral. She’s trying to make me feel like I owe them,” she adds.
Religious leaders in Ferguson agree with Snipes’ opinion, saying the Reverend “exploited” the case for his own profit:

“I think that as he came into the community, rather than trying to establish a common conversation, it was more of a baiting situation, to where he was divisive of people. Instead of bringing us together, I think he was drawing us apart.”
When the New York Post questioned Snipes about her comments, she denied ever making them.

Sharpton later told the paper that he was not “exploiting” her and her family – in fact, quite the opposite. He said Project Veritas was “exploiting” Snipes:

“They’re splicing and dicing stuff together. It was a distortion. Erica is a sincere victim. She was not trying to infer anything with me,” Sharpton said of the secret recording.
Other people featured in the video now claim to have been “entrapped” by the Project Veritas journalists.

But is it possible that what’s really happening is that they just don’t want to cross the Reverend Sharpton?
