James Drake’s son, Darren Drake, 32, was one of the eight victims in Tuesday’s terror attack in New York City.

Darren was riding his bicycle on a bike path in Lower Manhattan Tuesday afternoon when he was struck by a truck driven by 29-year-old Sayfullo Saipov, who had reportedly committed allegiance to ISIS.

On “The Story,” Drake said his son was a “miracle baby” who was brought home on Thanksgiving Day in 1985.

“It doesn’t really get a lot more beautiful than that,” Drake said.

He described Darren, who worked as a project manager for Moody’s Analytics, as the “perfect son.”

Drake said he and his wife heard about the attack in Lower Manhattan Tuesday afternoon and assumed it would be too coincidental for their son to be there at that precise time.

As time passed, they couldn’t get in touch with Darren on his cell phone or at his office.

“We just realized as the longer the night went on, he wasn’t coming home anymore,” Drake said.

He said Saipov should serve the rest of his life in solitary confinement.

“These people, they come to the country and they hurt us,” Drake said. “I just think that vetting should be a lot more difficult to allow these people who come into the country, especially a single man.”

“You get these radicals, and my son is the victim.”
