Most paragraphs, in the speech last night, began with the command “pass this bill.” That’s what most of the ‘pundits’ took from last night’s joint Congress speech by the President. Obama said “Pass this bill,” in a sort of obsessive incantation, seventeen times.
But what stood out most to me (and yes, I watched the speech in its entirety) was The President invoking GOD a few times (he’s been doing it more and more lately). I was surprised none of the commentators made note of it. This is a President that began his term with an almost-disdain for God, religion and patriotic pride…and here he was yelling ‘God bless you and God Bless the United Stated of America’ over the clapping at the end of the speech with an obligatory flag pin in his lapel–all George W. Bush style.
To me, this is as insulting as the “clinging to guns and religion,” because it’s so obviously just campaign pandering…so obviously actions and words born from polling and personal advisers…

This week’s Economist/YouGov Poll is full of bad news for President Barack Obama. The frontrunners for the GOP nomination in the 2012 contest are pulling very close to him in head-to-head matchups, and his approval rating has been at or near the lowest levels of his Presidency for the last few weeks. And the worrisome economy keeps it there: this week just 36% approve of the way he is handing his job overall, the lowest rating ever in the two and a half years of his Presidency. ?
More than half the public — 56% — disapproves of the President’s performance.
There are several other indications in the poll of how opinion about the President has changed over time. Well over half the country has concerns about what the President says. 57% believes most of what he says is what he wants people to hear, and not what he really believes. That is one point short of the highest percentage recorded on this question in this poll.
Yesterday, Mahmoud Abbas, the goat-fornicating, camel fellating, ass-in-the-air-5-times-a-day worshippers of the child molesting, woman abusing false prophet, “Mo’ham, Ed!” leader of the Paleo-simians made a proposal before the UN for statehood.
Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas asked the United Nations on Friday to recognize a state for his people, accusing Israel of engaging in ethnic cleansing in his United Nations speech.
Speaking at the UN General Assembly, Abbas accused Israel of employing an “ethnic cleansing policy” in Jerusalem.
Friday afternoon, Abbas said he is adamant about not recognizing Israel as the Jewish state.
“They talk to us about the Jewish state, but I respond to them with a final answer: We shall not recognize a Jewish state,” Abbas said in a meeting with some 200 senior representatives of the Palestinian community in the US, shortly before taking the podium and delivering a speech at the United Nations General Assembly.

If you want something slanted way to the “Left” he’s the guy you want to listen too!…he’s on there the same reason Alan Colmes, Bob Beckel, and that Mexican Illegal himself, Geraldo Rivera to give the opposite point of view, but the\y do it with a LOT of “deceit”
And given recent events going on at the UN this week, is anyone surprised that, rather than categorically standing up to defend Israel, Obama rolls out the red carpet for Turkey, which recently aligned itself with Egypt, has threatened to go to war with Israel and is poart of the cabal that now wants to wipe Israel off the face of the earth:
As Turkey’s leaders intensify efforts to isolate Israel internationally, the cordial treatment they are receiving from the Obama administration this week will add to concerns some Americans have about the strength of its support for Israel.
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton described as “excellent” her talks in New York City on Monday with her Turkish counterpart, Ahmet Davutoglu. President Obama is scheduled to meet with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan there on Tuesday. All are in the city for this week’s U.N. General Assembly sessions.
The Clinton-Davutoglu meeting came a day after the Turkish foreign minister announced that his government had blocked an Israeli attempt to open a liaison office at NATO headquarters in Brussels – the latest in a string of moves aimed at punishing Israel over a deadly commando raid on a Turkish ship carrying pro-Palestinian activists to the Gaza Strip in May 2010.
Erdogan’s Islamist-leaning government earlier this month angrily rejected a U.N. report on the incident that called the Israeli raid “excessive and unreasonable” but also described the attempt to breach Israel’s blockade of the Hamas-ruled territory as “reckless” and concluded that the blockade was a “legitimate security measure.”
