This week, SFLA is kicking off its National #Sockit2PP truck tour–because we’re sick of waiting for Congress to follow through on their campaign promises to Defund Planned Parenthood.
This is going to be unlike anything we’ve ever done before because not only are we storming 90+ campuses with our anti-Planned Parenthood sock display, but we’re kicking this tour off by taking a truck stuffed with 328,348 baby socks on the road to Washington, D.C., Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, and West Virginia! We’re going to hold rallies in front of the offices of key Senators, including Joe Manchin, Bob Casey, Mitch McConnell, and Joe Donnelly, reminding them that their constituents support defunding Planned Parenthood and expect action. Each sock represents a baby killed by abortion this year. Each one of the socks in our truck should be on the foot of precious baby.
Along the way we will be joined by people on the frontlines of the fight against Planned Parenthood. Students who work every day to make sure their peers know they have better options than abortion. Pregnancy resource center directors who provide free pregnancy tests, counseling, and other important help to women and families in need. Pro-life legislators who stand up to the millions of dollars Planned Parenthood spends on elections every year to try to ensure pro-abortion politicians continue to funnel them money.
Our goal is to prove to everyone who will listen, especially key U.S. Senators, that the pro-life movement will not go away quietly after watching our supposed allies in Washington, D.C. fail to deliver on their promises to defund Planned Parenthood.
Planned Parenthood has lied to the American public, committed fraud with taxpayer dollars, and has been proven to sell the body parts of baby’s they abort for profit. Yet, in the midst of the first Washington politics of repealing and replacing Obamacare, Congress has continually failed to defund Planned Parenthood or even launch a criminal investigation into their corrupt practices. The pro-life generation is sick of being told to wait until another election season has passed. Every day that we wait is another day that we must add 900 baby socks in our truck.
What will it take to get Congress to listen? We believe the first step is making ourselves known, loud and clear. The American people don’t trust Planned Parenthood, and 83% of Americans don’t want their tax dollars subsidizing abortion. Planned Parenthood fails to provide basic, quality health care. Other places, such as federally qualified health centers, frankly, do a much better job and provide non-violent care, seeking to heal not harm.
All 50 states have low-cost, high-quality health centers, which perform all the services that Planned Parenthood offers plus much, much more…minus abortion. These public and private providers outnumber Planned Parenthood locations by at least 20-to-1.
The American people deserve better than Planned Parenthood. They deserve high-quality health care, not low-quality care from political abortion vendors.
